Terms & Conditions of our Cycle Tours

Thank you very much for considering RFH Cycling Holidays for your cycle tour. Please note the following terms and conditions of our tours. We have tried to make them as clear and open as possible, but if you have any questions at all, please don´t hesitate to drop us a line or give us a call.

RFH Cycling Holidays is operated by Riofrio Holidays SL and Viajes Albatros SL. Viajes Albatros is a fully-bonded and registered travel agent with CIAN, which is the Spanish equivalent of ABTA. This means that we are bound by a code of conduct to ensure that you receive the best possible service.  Our CIAN Number is CI-AN-18445-3.

Cycle tours do not include travel or accident insurance. It is a condition of your contract with us that you must take out insurance before travelling which specifically covers cycle touring and which provides cover for cancellation, curtailment, injury or illness during your holiday. On some tours you may also need cover for the costs of damage to to or loss of hired bikes and your personal belongings. (Please check the details of each tour.)

Changes to Booking

A fee of ₤50 / €60 is payable in the event that it is necessary to make any administrative change, such as tour destination or dates, name of participants, tour category or cancellation of half-board when this option has previously been selected. This fee is in addition to any further costs that we might incur in making the requested change. Please note that certain elements of a booking may not be changeable after a reservation has been made and could incur a cancellation fee of up to 100% of that part of the programme.

Because of uncertainties in the world of international travel, we have to reserve the right to impose surcharges once we have confirmed your reservation. However, such charges will only be imposed due to exceptional variations in transportation costs and exchange rates and in the event that the charges amount to more than 10% of the value of the booking you will be entitled to cancel and receive a full refund.


Please ensure that you have insurance to cover your costs in the event that you have to cancel your booking.

In the event of your cancellation of the holiday the following charges will apply:

  • More than 59 days prior to first day of holiday reservation – 30% (loss of deposit).
  • From 29 to 59 days prior to first day of holiday reservation – 60%.
  • From 15 to 28 days prior to first day of holiday reservation – 90% of total holiday price.
  • Less than 14 days prior to first day of holiday reservation or “no show” 100% of total holiday price.

In the very unlikely event that we have to cancel your holiday, we shall offer either an alternative holiday at similar cost or a full refund of any money already paid to us.

We cannot accept liability or pay compensation where cycle tours are affected by “Force Majeure”, which is any event that we could not reasonably be expected to foresee. Such events include but are not limited to: war, terrorist activity, explosion, sabotage, riot, industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, flood, “Acts of God”, nuclear disaster, adverse weather, government action or other events outside our control.


RFH Cycling Holidays  and our agents and partners undertake to take all reasonable precautions to ensure your  safety and comfort. However, cycling is a potentially dangerous activity which is entered into entirely at your own risk.

Regardless of grading, all cycle tours involve a degree of physical exertion. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are physically fit enough to undertake the holiday that you book. Please contact us for general advice and, if your are in any doubt whatsoever, please consult your medical practitioner for specific medical advice relating to you and the holiday that you wish to undertake.

On production of a European Health Insurance Card, EU citizens are entitled to free or low-cost emergency medical treatment throughout the EU. However, we strongly recommend that all clients take out insurance to cover the costs of cancellation of your holiday, as well as repatriation, injury or loss. (Please see “Insurance” above.)


When making travel arrangements you should take careful note of the arrival requirements of the specific tour that you have booked. Some tours require that you arrive by no later than 4.00 pm (1600 hours) on the first day of your holiday. If you wish to arrive later than the time specified for your tour, please check with us. Late arrivals are not always possible.

Reserved accommodation is usually confirmed not less than one month before the start date of all cycle tours. Whilst every effort will be made to provide holidays as described on our website, we reserve the right to vary routes, accommodation, etc when necessary. We will always endeavour to provide facilities of at least a similar quality.

Hire Bikes & Equipment

You will be liable for the cost of damage to any bike or other hired equipment which is not the result of reasonable wear and tear. In some cases, you may also be liable for the full cost of replacement. On certain tours we are able to offer insurance against such eventualities and we recommend that you take this option.

All hire bikes are regularly serviced and will be checked thoroughly before being handed over to you. However it is your responsibility to satisfy yourself that bike is in a roadworthy condition.

Bike helmets

The law with regards to the wearing of helmets varies from country to country and is detailed on each tour page. Even where helmets are not compulsory, we recommend that you always wear one when cycling.

Luggage & Personal belongings

We cannot accept any liability for damage to your own bicycles or other equipment that you bring on your holiday, with the possible exception of your luggage, if it can be shown that our courier was negligent. It is very important that you have adequate insurance that includes loss of and damage to personal effects.  (See “Insurance” above.)

In the unlikely event of an incident with your luggage, please contact our agent in country within 24 hours. If you are not happy with the response from our agent, please contact us. In such an event, photographs of the damage will assist greatly in assessing claims.

Payment of compensation for damage to luggage can only be considered if our agents are contacted as soon as possible and the damage is reviewed by their staff. In the case of items being stolen from luggage, there must be evidence of a forced opening of the luggage. There is no liability for valuables of any kind.

Maps & Guides

The guide books, maps and route directions provided on our self-guided cycle tours are for information and guidance only. We cannot accept responsibility for any inaccuracies in the published material.


Where flights, trains, buses, transfers or hire cars are booked by us on your behalf, this is done subject to the service providers’ terms and conditions and we accept no liability for their failure to provide the contracted services.

We cannot accept any responsibility for cars, wherever they may be parked during the course of your cycle tour.


All bookings made are accepted by both parties as subject to the terms and conditions detailed here.

These terms and conditions shall form a contract subject only to EU Law and any disputes shall be settled only in EU courts and tribunals.

Any claim against RFH Cycling Holidays, its agents and partners shall be limited to a maximum of the amount paid by the claimant to RFH Cycling Holidays for their individual holiday.
